Stock market hours
The stock market is open from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday under normal conditions. This means that there are no holidays or nothing else out of the ordinary that is going on.
9:30-4 may seem like the stock market is not open for very long each day, guess what, it isn’t! This means that the 6 and a half hours that the stock market is open is very important and volatile.
Monday and Friday are generally the most important days for the stock market. There is a reason that the terms “Black Monday” and others exist, monday has generally shown to be the biggest day of the week for the stock market. This is because the market is closed on Saturday and Sunday so 3 days worth of news and emotions are all put into Monday. Friday is a big day because there will generally be a lot of buying or a lot of selling the last few hours of trading because people either want to load up before the weekend or unload.
